59th Grammy Awards Best Rock Song & Album Nominees

-Brian Furman

The 59th Grammy Awards are set to take place on Sunday, February 12th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This years ceremony will be hosted by James Corden of The Late Late Show. The ceremony already has a slew of performers including a collaboration between Metallica and Lady Gaga, and Adele, Sturgill Simpson, and Gary Clark Jr. set to perform as well. There are talks of a Prince tribute with Bruno Mars and The Time and, like every year, this all becomes speculation with the Recording Academy. But the Grammy Awards never disappoint.

Rock has become noticeably absent from the awards ceremony. Many of the bands and songs bend the term genre and could fit in multiple silos. In the Best Rock Song Category Seasoned vets Metallica and Radiohead are up against newcomers Twenty One Pilots and Highly Suspect. The Best Rock Album showcases Weezer’s finest effort in years, as well as blink-182’s first album in a decade along with the more metal leanings of Gojira.

Best Rock Album nominees are:

Weezer – Weezer

Gojira –Magma

blink-182 – California
