Brian Eno Releases New Record Reflection
Brian Eno has released a new record entitled Reflection on January 1st via Warp Records. Reflection extends Eno’s ambient and experimental catalog and consists of a single 54 minute track. Eno draws similarities between Reflection and his 1985 work Thursday Afternoon which, much like Reflection, is one continuous 60 minute, meditative track. Eno speaks to his process in a prepared statement accompanying the release of Reflection: “My job as a composer is to set in place a group of sounds and phrases, and then some rules which decide what happens to them”.
Eno’s career spans 5 decades beginning as a founding member of the seminal glam rock band Roxy Music. Eno’s sound has become synonymous with ambient and experimental music with works such as Another Green World, Discreet Music, and Ambient 1: Music for Airports. Eno has collaborated with legendary artists including David Bowie, Robert Fripp, David Byrne, and John Cale. He has also handled production duties for U2 watermarks; The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and Zooropa, as well as Coldplay’s Viva la Vida, and Mylo Xyloto.
