Foreigner 40th Anniversary Tour to Include Cheap Trick, Jason Bonham
Classic rock favorites Foreigner have announced an ambitious summer tour set to kick off July 11th in Syracuse, New York. Joining the band for their “40th Anniversary” trek will be recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Cheap Trick, along with special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience.
“I never could have imagined, when I set out to create Foreigner forty years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later,” said Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones, in a prepared statement. “I can’t express the gratitude I feel when fans share stories of how our songs have been woven into their milestones and memories over the years.”
Jones added: “This summer we are going to celebrate these songs, and I can’t imagine a better group of friends to share this monumental tour with than Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham, who are sure to make it a true tribute to the everlasting power of rock and roll.”
Like Foreigner, Cheap Trick is celebrating 40 years since the release of their debut LP. Last year the group issued their 17th studio album, Bang Zoom Crazy … Hello. A perennial favorite among rock fans and critics, Cheap Trick has performed more than 5,000 shows over the course of four-plus decades.
As regards Bonham, the drummer says he’s thrilled to be part of Foreigner’s 40th year celebration. “I spent three years as their drummer and had a great time,” he says. “Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience show will hit home run after home run with these timeless classics done to perfection. JBLZE started seven years ago as a way to show my appreciation not only to my Dad and the music of Led Zeppelin, but also to the fans themselves. With the amazing Cheap Trick along with the one and only Foreigner this is show not to be missed.”
To coincide with the tour, Foreigner plans to release a compilation album titled 40 – Forty Hits from Forty Years. In addition to featuring the group’s biggest hits—“Cold As Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and “Feels like the First Time,” among others—the album will include two new songs. At present, the tour touches down in 36 cities before wrapping up in September, with more dates to be added in the coming weeks. Click here for more information, including the current schedule.
