Jack White Unveils “Carolina Drama,” Offers Preview of Forthcoming Acoustic Set

–Joe Lund

Jack White has shared a second track from his much-anticipated new collection of acoustic recordings. Titled, appropriately, Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016, the upcoming set features acoustic songs drawn from the artist’s work with the White Stripes, the Raconteurs, and as a solo artist. The latest preview, “Carolina Drama,” appeared originally on the Raconteurs’ 2008 LP, Consolers of the Lonely. Pared down to its acoustic essence, the newly mixed ballad emits a backcountry vibe flavored with fiddle, banjo, and lap slide guitar.jack_white_album

Last month White shared the first sampling from the new collection, when he unveiled a previously unreleased White Stripes song titled “City Lights.” All told, Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 consists of 26 songs, including album tracks, B-sides, remixes, alternate versions and never-before-released material. The set will be available this Friday (Sept. 9). Meanwhile, you can check out “Carolina Drama” below.
