Millennial Band to Watch: Greta Van Fleet

Millennial Band to Watch: Greta Van Fleet

-Lauren Bobyock

Led Zeppelin has been reborn in the form of four young men from Frankenmuth, Michigan. Greta Van Fleet provides a head-banging and mesmerizing sound that will instantly take you to the year 1974. Composed of brothers Josh, Jake, and Sam Kiszka as well as best friend Daniel Wagner, Greta Van Fleet is taking the nation by storm this year with their EP “Black Smoke Rising” and U.S. tour. After touring with The Struts earlier this year, their popularity has only continued to grow as audiences cultivate a craving for this older bluesy rock sound.

Greta Van Fleet guitarist Jake Kiszka recently told Guitar World about listening to classic rock music growing up, such as artists like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Cream. “It wasn’t until I got to middle school that I even realized the other kids were listening to new stuff on pop radio, and it sounded nothing like what I liked,” he says. The band grew up in a world of vinyl and classic rock that stuck with them and is clearly in their hearts for life. Jake’s twin Josh is the band’s vocalist, their younger brother Sam plays bass, and Daniel Wagner completes the quartet on drums.

Despite their ages ranging from 18-21, these guys are a blast from the past and proving that rock ‘n’ roll will live on forever, also proven by their many sold out shows. Check out their tour dates below to have your chance at feeding your soul some contemporary classic rock ‘n’ roll.
