Ringo Starr Announces Fall Tour Dates
Ringo Starr has announced a series of concert dates this fall with his long-running All-Starr Band. The trek kicks off on October 13 with an eight-show stint at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and wraps up on November 16 at the Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey. Additional dates are expected to be announced soon.
“The dream is still unfolding,” the former Beatle said, in a prepared statement. “I love to play, and I love to play with this band. I can’t say that enough, and we’re on the road again.”
The current All-Starr Band lineup features Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie (Santana, Journey), Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Warren Ham (Kansas, Bloodrock) and drummer Gregg Bissonette. In 2015, Starr spoke with this writer about his affection for the group’s members.
“The requirement for past All-Starr Band members has been that they’ve had hits,” said Starr. “The other requirement is that we don’t torture each other, that we have fun and support each other. Some players from the past had the hits and did their jobs well, but there was no contact after we got offstage. This band hangs out together—the personalities gel. Of course we have some heated discussions—that’s life—but overall it’s a great situation I haven’t experienced in a long time.”
