Tedeschi Trucks Band Announce 2017 “Wheels of Soul” Summer Tour

The Tedeschi Trucks Band are set to hit the road this summer for their third annual “Wheels of Soul Tour.” Led by former Allman Brothers Band member Derek Trucks and his wife Susan Tedeschi, the 12-piece ensemble will be supported on all dates by the Wood Brothers and Hot Tuna. The 16-city trek kicks off on July 1 in Gilford, New Hampshire, and wraps up with a two-night appearance (July 29-30) at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

“It’s been great to develop this tour into an annual event where we get a chance to hit the road and share the stage with fellow musicians we love and respect,” says Tedeschi. “Each year we try to find bands that share our musical vision while bringing their own unique talents to this traveling circus.”

Trucks echoes the same sentiment. “Every year as the tour rolls along the collaborations between all the musicians grow and grow,” he says. “It inspires and challenges us in new ways and I think that really translates to the audience when they see how much fun we’re having with our friends.”

The Tedeschi Trucks Band has staged more than 200 shows each year since forming in 2010. Each of the group’s three studio albums has reached the Top 15 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. A live-album follow-up to their most recent record, 2016’s Let Me Get By, is in the works, with a release announcement promised for later this year.

Presently, the Tedeschi Trucks Band are in the midst of their winter North American tour. The current trek ends with a three-night stint at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium in early March, to be followed by a European tour in the spring. “Tedeschi Trucks is arguably one of the greatest band in the world today,” says Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen, a legendary figure in his own right. “It is an honor for me and my Hot Tuna brothers to be part of the great [Wheels of Soul] summer tour.”
