ZZ Top will be hitting the road with Gov’t Mule this September for an eight-show run from the east coast to the midwest.
The tour will kick off in Wantagh, NY on September 9 and will conclude in Kansas City, Mo. on September 20. The announcement comes just one month after ZZ Top was forced to postpone their recent North American dates after bassist Dusty Hill suffered a fractured shoulder before a show in Lubbock, Texas on April 14. Gov’t Mule, meanwhile, is planning to tour throughout the summer and will also release a collection of their early demos, The Tel-Star Sessions—which includes a cover of ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid”—on August 5.
“ZZ Top and the Mule are cut from the same dyed-in-the-blues cloth,” ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons said in a statement. “I’ve long admired the band and Warren Haynes’ guitar work. He has a certain grit to everything he does. We’re gonna have a fine time.”
Tickets for the shows go on sale to the general public this Friday at 10am.
